2015 Scholar

Through life circumstances Christopher entered Virginia Tech at 30 years old. He was accumulating student loan debt and the Department of Horticulture let students know of available scholarships. He applied for ten scholarships; one being the PPA scholarship. This helped reduce he future financial burden and he was able to focus on his studies versus full time work and graduated Magnum Cum Laude.

With the PPA Scholarship, Christopher had the privilege to attend the PPA Symposium and network with other like-minded individuals. This was his first exposure to my fellow plant geeks. He graduated Virginia Tech and became a woody shrub grower, later promoted to Vice President of Production.

Through exposure to the PPA, he has developed a nationwide network of friends and colleagues. He states that without his early experiences with PPA and the PPF scholarship that he would not be as successful as he is today.
